What Do Speech Therapists Help With?

Speech therapists help people of all ages with different speech and language disorders such as:

Articulation disorders

If someone has trouble saying certain sounds or saying words correctly, it's called an articulation disorder. "Run" might come out as "won." Or "say" may sound like "thay.

Fluency disorders

If someone repeats certain sounds and has trouble saying the complete word, he or she may have fluency disorder. For example, someone trying to say "story" might get stuck on the "st" and say "st-st-st-story." Or he or she might draw out certain sounds and say "ssssssstory." A stutter is a fluency disorder.

Resonance or voice disorders

Someone might have a voice disorder if people have trouble understanding him or her. A person might start a sentence loud and clear, but it's quiet and mumbling by the end. Sometimes these kids sound like they have a cold or like they're talking through their noses.

Language disorders

Someone who has trouble understanding people or has trouble putting words together to express thoughts might have a language disorder.

    Hearing Therapy

Hearing loss can make clear communication a challenge for you and your loved ones. But it doesn't have to be this way. Hearing aids can help you clear the lines of communication—get back in the conversation and enjoy life!

If you suspect you may have hearing loss, it is important to seek proper testing and evaluation by an audiologist. The purpose of an audiological evaluation is to determine whether a hearing loss exists, and if so, the type and severity of your hearing impairment.

The audiologist uses a variety of sounds and test equipment such as earphones and speakers to evaluate your hearing. This process is painless, comfortable and safe.
